AMF Resources for Investors

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector. AMF has notified Quebec consumers that it recently (June 23, 2015) identified five on-line trading platform websites that are not authorized to offer products and services in Québec:,,, and Quebeckers should therefore not trade via these websites.

Offering investment services or products, whether on the Internet, from an electronic platform or in person, is a regulated activity. Any person or company offering investments must be registered with the AMF. Furthermore, the AMF must approve any company that creates or markets derivatives and must authorize the marketing of those derivatives.

The AMF’s updated list of websites that are not authorized to offer investment products and services in Québec is available here.
